About Fecal Microbiota Transplantation
Fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) is the transfer of fecal bacteria from a healthy individual (the donor) into the gastrointestinal tract of a recipient. FMT is used to treat recurrent Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI) and is being investigated for other conditions, such as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), obesity, and metabolic syndrome.
